A NEW takeaway will open in a Lake District town this week and it's set to be a 'spud-tacular' edition to the food offering in the area.

Kerry Wright, has opened the new Wright Spuds Co. based in the former Bellaport Bakes which sits within the Masons store on Lake Road in Keswick.

Kerry who is originally from Workington has been involved with the hospitality industry throughout the majority of her career, including the Sugar Shack confectionary company in West Cumbria- saying that turning fifty this year has given her the push to go ahead and take on the challenge.

There will be all of the traditional jacket potato fillings such as cheese, bean and tuna - alongside a special of the day and vegan/vegetarian options.

Speaking about opening the new business, Kerry said: "I always said no more businesses, but I just couldn't help myself so this is really exciting.

"I just think that I turned 50 (earlier this year) and I just thought it was time to do it all again (open a business) and I wanted to give it a go."

The shop opened yesterday, October 17 with a plan for the takeaway to be able to deliver to businesses and people around Keswick in the coming weeks.

Although Kerry acknowledges it may be seen as a 'difficult time' to open a business in the Lake District town as Keswick approaches winter she says that the takeaway is 'hoping to focus on the local market' as it gets up and running and also thinks Keswick has benefitted from tourism 'all year round'.
