FIRE crews attended a multi-station training exercise at a major West Cumbrian manufacturing company base - as the fire chief praised the professionalism of all involved in the exercise.

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner David Allen attended a multi-station exercise at Thomas Armstrong in Flimby on Tuesday evening, October 15 with Maryport, Workington (Wholetime and On-Call), Keswick, Cockermouth and Wigton crews.

The Commissioner said: "It was fantastic to see multiple crews working professionally together and see how they operate breathing apparatus and the latest technologies such as thermal imaging cameras.

"It's only by doing these practice runs that we can ensure crews deal with them when and if they do occur in real life.

"Thanks to Thomas Armstrong Ltd. for use of their facilities, without the help of commercial properties in this manner we can't train to better protect Cumbria."
