RESCUE teams were called out to the Ennerdale Valley at the weekend to a group of six walkers who were struggling in 'deteriorating weather and reduced light' whilst descending a Lake District fell.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team were called out to Gamlin End, High Crag just at 4.14pm on Sunday, October 27 after police received a call about six walkers struggling to descend the mountain.

In a statement on social media, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team said: "The team was called by Cumbria Police to help a group of six who were struggling with deteriorating weather and reduced light whilst descending from High Crag to Black Sail Youth Hostel.

"A limited callout was initiated, with ten team members making their way to the end of Ennerdale Valley, before ascending via Scarth Gap to the party’s location.

"The group were cold and tired, but otherwise OK, and we escorted them back down to the valley."
