A WORKINGTON pensioner has won a competition for the best hanging basket following a competition run by the town council.
Newlands Care Centre in Workington resident Bob celebrated winning the competition held by Workington Town Council for the best hanging basket.
The activity co-ordinator at the care home worked with Bob, who seemed very keen and interested in learning macramé.
It was 'amazing' how quickly he managed to pick it up and complete the creative project, said the co-ordinator.
Kim Whelan, manager at Newlands Care Home said: “Art is very popular with everyone who lives at Newlands Care Home and creative activities are always a favourite. We are proud of our staff and residents for good job well done.”
Newlands Care Centre is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Newlands Care Centre provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 52 residents from respite care to long term stays.
