Maryport Coastguard responded to a call of a woman in the water in Maryport Harbour earlier this week.
The team was paged to attend the callout on October 30 and volunteers were quickly on the scene speaking to police.
They assessed that the casualty was in an agitated state.
Writing on Facebook, the Coastguard team said: "When it was confirmed the casualty was safe and being handed over to our colleagues at NWAS, Belfast MRCC were contacted with the information and the team was stood down.
"We wish the casualty well and a speedy recovery."
