A Cumbrian artist is set to release a hand-drawn, handwritten guidebook of the Lake District later this month.

Artist and fell walker Colin Hindle has been capturing the Lake District views in his artwork since 2015, having moved to the Pooley Bridge areas as an adult.

His first book, which was released in 2021, took over five years to put together and focused on Ullswater, Brotherswater and Haweswater.

And on November 15, his second book, focusing on the views at Windermere, Grasmere, Langdale and Coniston will be officially released.

He said: "Over 5000 hours in the making, this second labour of love of illustrations, poems, essays and hand drawn maps to the best views of Windermere, Grasmere, the Langdales and Coniston, will be released on November 15.

"Book two (in the series of four), covering the whole of the Lake District takes you this time to the most beautiful views in the central and southern Lakes, with hand drawn maps on where to find them.

"This book is about sharing the moments of beauty that I have been lucky to experience, both physically from the landscape and mentally as a by-product of walking over and in this special land. Beauty itself is everywhere, we just have to give ourselves the permission and the time to see it.

"Drawings, poems, musings, stories and histories; a book of beauty, places of beauty."

The artist was also motivated by Hunter Davies' official biography of Arthur Wainwright.

He said: "I realised that each double-page spread was a complete work of art in itself. The walker on the fell doesn't need to turn over the page, all the information is there. My guide shares with you where these wonderful wild views are. There are many paths to get there, how you go about that, is up to you."

"The best illustrated and most artistic guide to Lakeland I have read since the Blessed Wainwright gave up his pen."

The book costs £20 and can be ordered through Colin's website.
