More than 200 babies were born in hospital across North and West Cumbria last month according to new statistics released by the NHS.
There were 214 babies -104 girls and 110 boys – born across hospitals in the North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust (NCIC) in October.
64 girls and 40 boys were born at the Cumberland Infirmary with 69 girls and 41 boys being born at the West Cumberland Hospital.
The busiest day at the Cumberland Infirmary was October 4 and 13 with seven babies born each day and the busiest days at the West Cumberland Hospital were October 9, 22, 26 and 31 with five babies born each day.

A spokesperson for NCIC said: “Congratulations to all the new parents and carers.”
The number of babies born in the Cumberland Council fell last year, new figures show – as the number of births in England and Wales hit the lowest figure since 1977.
Office for National Statistics figures show there were 2,256 live births in the Cumberland Council area in 2023 – down from 2,316 the year before.
