A new service in Maryport will provide support for people with learning disabilities.
Centenary Court, managed by housing association and care provider Home Group, will offer full-time residential support to customers with a range of learning disability needs.
The service is expected to create up to 30 new jobs in Maryport, with a focus on local recruitment.
Centenary Court had previously served as a housing and support service for ex-servicepeople but had been closed for several years.
The reopening of the homes will aim to meet the demand for support for adults with learning disabilities.
Lisa Russell, regional director at Home Group, said: "We are delighted to be bringing Centenary Court back into use, and to be able to provide high quality homes and care for adults with learning disability needs.
"Maryport, and the wider Cumbria area, has a high demand for this type of service and we hope to be able to provide an improved quality of life for these customers through our service.
"Opening the service also gives us the additional benefit of creating valuable job opportunities for the local community in Maryport and the surrounding area."
The announcement of the new service follows the news in August of a new mental health hub set to open in Whitehaven.
Home Group is partnering with the NHS and other care providers to assist people dealing with a range of mental health issues.
Home Group, set up in 1935, is one of the UK's largest providers of housing, health, and care, employing around 3,500 colleagues.
They provide homes for more than 125,000 customers across England and Scotland, and in the last year delivered support to around 14,000 people with mental and physical health issues.
