A MAN has been fined after he was caught with cocaine in a ‘drugs hotspot’ in the early hours of the morning.

Police found Dominic Wardle, 30, with two other men on Peter Street in Workington just after 2.30am on May 6.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting at Workington Magistrates’ Court, said the men were in a ‘drugs hotspot’ and police suspected they had drugs on their person.

Wardle was searched and a snap bag of white powder was found on his person. He confirmed that it was cocaine.

Wardle, of Mitchell Avenue, Northside, Workington, pleaded guilty to possessing a Class A drug – cocaine.

The defendant, who was not legally represented, said: “I would just like to apologise. I regret it. I’m sorry.”

Magistrates fined Wardle £575 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £230 victim surcharge.
