Cumberland Council is launching its latest 'Winter Ready' campaign to help residents and businesses prepare for the cold months.

The initiative aims to provide resources and guidance to ensure everyone stays safe, warm and well-prepared throughout the season.

From icy roads to health tips, the campaign covers various aspects of winter preparedness.

Residents can find information on checking their car's winter readiness, flu jabs and steps to take if flooding occurs.

The council has dedicated 'Winter Ready' pages on their website where people can find all essential winter-related information.

The campaign also includes an ongoing social media programme to keep everyone updated with the latest winter advice.

Key areas of focus include winter vaccines, emergency planning, winter travel, general health advice and cost of living support.

Councillor Denise Rollo, Cumberland Council executive member for sustainable, resilient and connected places, said: "We’ve seen how quickly winter weather can disrupt our lives here in Cumberland, but with a little preparation, we can tackle whatever comes our way.

"From getting your flu jab to checking your car’s winter kit, it’s about taking small steps now that can make a big difference later.

"And whatever happens, Cumberland Council is ready to respond."

Councillor Lisa Brown, executive member for adults and community health, said: "The 'Winter Ready' campaign focuses not just on staying safe in severe weather, but also on taking care of your health and well-being.

"It’s a community-wide effort, offering the knowledge and resources everyone needs to face winter with confidence."

The campaign covers winter guidance on vaccines, emergency planning, travel, health and cost of living advice amongst other topics.

A wide range of information about winter-related items is available on Cumberland Council’s website, including tips for staying well, warm and healthy during the colder months.
