The council will introduce a new public space protection order (PSPO) this week.
Cumberland Council has announced the move in a bid to curb anti-social behaviour (ASB) and improve community spaces.
This initiative comes after the recent merging of Allerdale, Copeland, Carlisle City Council, and the County Council, providing Cumberland Council with a chance to streamline public space regulations.
The PSPOs are governed by the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, allowing local authorities to address various ASB issues.
This new order aims to be a proactive measure, preventing ASB while responding to concerns raised by locals.
The PSPO will be applied consistently based on four key principles: engage, educate, explain, and enforce.
This strategy was formulated in consultation with Cumbria Constabulary to ensure fairness and transparency.
Residents and businesses can access detailed information and see which specific areas in Cumberland are covered by the PSPO on the Cumberland Council website.
