Year 11 students at St Joseph's Catholic High School took part in a Money Wise Workshop.

The event, on November 7, was delivered by the Whitehaven, Egremont and District Credit Union.

It aimed to equip students with practical financial skills.

This is the second time the school has hosted the workshop, and pupils were praised for their enthusiastic participation.

Pupils were given a weekly shopping budget of £25 and tasked with planning meals and prioritising essentials.

This exercise aimed to highlight the challenge of maintaining a balanced diet on limited funds.

Mr Ian Nevitt said: "We’re grateful to the Whitehaven, Egremont and District Credit Union for their continued support.

"Workshops like these and our annual Financial Capabilities Day provide real-world skills that will serve our students for years to come."

The Money Wise Workshop is part of St Joseph's initiative to prepare students for life beyond school.

The school hosts a Financial Capabilities Day each year, aiming to equip pupils with essential knowledge about money management and financial responsibility.
