A WEST Cumbrian hotel has submitted plans for the expansion of their business- with the hopes of providing a new bridal suite and lounge to 'enhance' the wedding experience at the venue.
Plans have been submitted for 'a new two storey extension facilitating the creation of a bridal suite and bridal lounge' at the Hunday Manor Hotel in Workington.
The application also includes the construction of a new timber entrance canopy to the function suite.
Osprey Management Group announced that they had bought the Hunday Manor Hotel in July 2023 at the time they said they had 'exciting refurbishment plans' for the venue.
The new plans, the application says, will provide 'quality new spaces' to support the wedding offering of the hotel, including: a luxury bedroom suite, new bridal lounge and a private balcony.
The plans come as part of a 'full refurbishment' that is set to take place at the hotel.
A design and access statement supporting the application, said: "The new extension will provide a quality new spaces and overing as part of the wedding offering of the hotel which will be enhanced through a full refurbishment.
"The proposal will create a feature new entrance to the ground floor function spaces as well as a new bridal lounge on the ground floor for preparation space for the bride and bridesmaids.
"At first floor a feature bridal suite is proposed, this will include a luxury bedroom suite including En Suite, dressing room, private balcony terrace and glazing to maximise on views to the coast and surrounding area."
It is understood that the hotel originally was built as a private manor house in the 17th century and have lived a number of lives prior to being a hotel.
Between 1951 and 1968 a National Coal Board miner’s rescue centre was based here. In 1973 the Solway Colliery in Workington was closed. It is only in more recent times that it became the country house hotel
Plans have been submitted to Cumberland council's planning department on October, 10 and will now go through a consultation process with the authority.
