A Cumbria school is closed due to icy road conditions.
This morning, Cumberland Council issued a warning about the road condition for the A595 Buckman and South Cumbria.
Due to last night’s weather, icy conditions have formed in many areas. Gritters have been deployed to treat the roads, but everyone is urged to exercise caution.
Millom School is closed today due to road traffic collisions at Buckman Brow blocking the road.
The poor road conditions also mean that school buses are not running.
In a post on social media the school said they expect to be open as normal on Monday, but ask parents and pupils to check the school website and emails for further information.
Cumberland council advises everyone to plan ahead, and check routes and journey details before setting off.
They also say to prioritise staying safe, and if conditions are not safe for travel, to make the responsible decision to delay or avoid your journey.
They said: "Remember, icy patches may still be present even after gritting. Stay alert and drive carefully.
"Please take care and travel safely!"
