A NEW outdoor event space on Maryport harbour is said to be 'taking shape' - as the council provided an update on the area as part of the £12m regeneration of the town.
Plans were approved for the new outdoor space that 'seeks to re-use existing outdoor space at the harbour side to host events such as outdoor markets and local festivals' on land adjacent to Maryport harbour in July of this year.
In a statement on social media, Cumberland council said: "The paths are being laid, the bases for the bar and stage are being poured, the amphitheatre-style earthworks are underway… the new outdoor event space on Maryport Harbourside is taking shape.
"The bar and stage are being constructed off site and are due to be installed early in the new year, with the landscaping of the area to follow.
"We think we need to hold a great big party next summer to celebrate."
