England's Cricket World Cup hero Ben Stokes is set to return to the club where it all started this weekend in Cockermouth.
Stokes, whose man-of-the-match performance in the final against New Zealand helped England lift the cup for the first time, will be back at Sandair to watch his old team take on Furness in the Cumbria Cricket League on Saturday.
The 28-year-old former Cockermouth School pupil is enjoying some downtime before the start of the Ashes series next month.
Stokes tweeted: "Excited to head back to where it all started."
Club captain Gareth White believes it will be a special occasion for Cockermouth and all of West Cumbria.
He added: "I thought he was joking when he said he was going to come and catch up on Saturday.
"I have to say I'm surprised with the proximity of the Ashes but he's got so many friends up here.
"Ben has a magnetic personality and the youngsters want to see him and get pictures with him."
