Keswick Golf Club's ladies section is defying the challenges of coronavirus to enjoy a great season.
Lady vice-captain Jill Kelso has been the star so far winning seven out of the last 10 competitions and in the process dropping her handicap.
The ladies have also had four coaching sessions with Bev New – with all improving – and at the annual Ladies v Fellmen match, the ladies narrowly managed to hold onto the cup by two points.
Over the past month, 18 people were inspired to give give golf a shot, having lessons on the practice area and taking to the fairways under the guidance of New.
Follow on sessions for the enthusiasts or anyone wishing to brush up their skills, along with golf for beginners, will continue in the Spring. For more information, contact the lady captain by emailing alilightford@gmail.com.
On September 2 Mary Walker, Gillian Alcock, Deborah Rackham and Marion Donnelly won first prize at the Kirkby Lonsdale Ladies Open, seeing off teams from Skipton and Kirkby Lonsdale.
