A LONE goal was the only difference as Sun Inn Athletic edged past Highfield 4-3 in an exciting Workington and District Sunday League Cup encounter.
A brace from Bradley Williamson and one apiece for Mark Campbell and Ewan Trestianu just gave Athletic the edge, with Highfield replying through a penalty from Conor Cooke and two goals from Kyle Murray.
There was also joy from Glasson Gardeners as their lone goal from KArl Fillingham was enough to see them through against Pack Horse.
Deer Orchard went on to score three, with Ben Wright on target from the penalty spot to go alongside goals from Harry Parker and James Forrest as they beat JJ's 3-1, with the consolation for JJ's coming from Nathan Dryden.
There was a high scoring game at Salterbeck where Blue Bell were the visitors and they finished with the spoils in a 7-3 win.
Carl Denver and Kyle Teasdale both bagged braces for Blue Bell, with Tom Powell, Ben Powell and Steven Maxwell also hitting the back of the net.
Anthony Hilland was on the scoresheet for Salterbeck, with Bobby Carter adding a brace.
Northside were also racking up the goals as they put six past Maryport Labour Club, who could only manage two in reply.
Jamie Bramley picked up two goals to help his side ease through in the competition and there were further strikes from Jamie Glover, Shaun Carter, Chad Grisdale and Callum Killick.
Dearham v Sun Inn and The Junction v Flimby Social Club were both called off.
