WORKINGTON town fans are being encouraged to ‘go retro’ this weekend, as the club get ready for their final league game of the season.
After playing their penultimate league fixture yesterday evening, August 23 away at Oldham, this will be the last hit out for the Blue and White Army before they begin their playoff run.
The club are also offering tickets to ex-players of the club who directors want to see enjoying the final fixture.
The game is a bank holiday fixture, taking place on Sunday, August 27 at the Fibrus Community Stadium, Workington, with kick off at 3pm.
Speaking after training on Tuesday, Head Coach Anthony Murray said: “Our home performances have been good and everything which has been going on at home, in terms of off the field, everything that’s been going on, has been really, brilliant I’m sure the lads will appreciate it.
“It’s been a really good season, we are hoping to finish it off well against Hunslet, get down, get behind the lads and hopefully have a great weekend, especially with it being a bank holiday as well.”
The club is inviting ex players to attend for free and enjoy a day out in 'their old stomping ground'.
Director Graeme Peers said:"As part of plans to connect ourselves and engage with the local sporting community we are delighted to invite ex players back to Workington Town this week to see the positive changes to the ground themselves and enjoy being back on their old stomping ground.
"We have ex stars such as Hitro Okesene, Steve Arnold returning to join regulars at our matches such as Billy Pattinson and Alan Varty. There is many more and we are inviting you to get in touch.
"We hope to see as many ex players in the fanzone Marquee from 1pm, enjoying some good crack, seeing some old teammates and enjoying the game. We also hope old fans, new fans get those retro items out, old tops, flags and bring them to the game."
Ex players can arrange a free ticket by emailing: graemepeerstownrlfc@gmail.com or calling 01900 603609.
