CUMBRIAN St Helens star Tee Ritson has expressed his passion for rugby in the county, as he looks forward to playing in Kyle Amor’s testimonial game next month.
The Maryport born super league star has been named in the squad for the Cumbria vs. Wales match which will take place on October, 13 at the LEL Arena in Whitehaven.
Tee, who was a fan favourite at the Barrow Raiders before making his debut into super league with rugby league giants St. Helens has said its ‘always an honour’ to play for the county ahead of the match.
Speaking to the Times and Star, Tee said: “It’s an honour to play for Cumbria, we had the game against Jamaica last year and I loved every minute of that representing my county, I share some similar beliefs with Kyle I am very passionate about rugby in Cumbria so any opportunity that comes up to represent my county or help grow the sport in any way I am all for it.
“Obviously to me it’s subject with the grand final but it will be a good opportunity anyway.”
The game will be the final match in a glowing career for Cumbrian rugby league star Kyle Amor, with Tee saying he is looking forward to playing alongside Kyle and in front of his family for the match.
“Kyle is a big figure in Cumbria in terms of rugby, when I was growing up he was doing his thing at Saints, he has done a lot for the county, always given back so it will be good to play for him in his testimonial.
“My family came to the game last year to watch us against Jamaica and they absolutely loved it, rugby league has always been big in Cumbria and we got a big crowd last year I had quite a lot of friends and family come and I am assuming it will be the same this year, it’s always a good spectacle, it’s at the end of the year as well so there’s no other games on, all the fans get behind the county and they really turn up.
“It’s always an honour to play for my county and I just hope that we put a good show on for the fans on the night.”
Tickets have been launched from the game via online service Skiddle, as well as being available from Sportzone in Whitehaven.
