WORKINGTON town have announced a major new signing for their 2024 season as preparations are underway for their next League One campaign.
On Tuesday, October 3 Workington Town RLFC announced the recruitment of long-term Championship centre Chris Taylor, who has spent the last decade at neighbours Whitehaven RLFC.
In an announcement on their social media, Workington Town said: “What’s that you say? Announce an established Championship centre with bags of experience? Oh, go on then……Welcome to Town marra.”
The signing will be a real coup for Head Coach Anthony Murray and the clubs coaching staff, with Taylor previously making over 180 career appearances for rivals Haven over the past 10 years.

In a statement on social media, Whitehaven RLFC said: “It’s a thank you and goodbye to Chris Taylor who has today announced he will be leaving the LEL Arena following the 2023 season.
“Chris made 182 appearances for Whitehaven scoring 50 tries and 1 drop goal across two spells after a brief spell with Halifax in 2015!
“All the best marra and thanks for the efforts in.”
