WORKINGTON Town player Ciaran Walker was recognised by the RFL as he was voted League One Young Player of the Year for League One at a ceremony this week.
At an award ceremony held in Manchester on Wednesday, October 10 the town favourite was given the award.
Ciaran has said he is ‘over the moon’ with the win being a poignant one, coming on the anniversary of the death of his great grandad, known to Ciaran as Da, with the half back saying it’s ‘a dream I know he would be proud of’.
Speaking about winning the award, Ciaran said: “I’m absolutely over the moon. Even just to share the room with some of the best players to play the game was so special.
“I’ve worked hard for this and now I need to back it up and improve on stuff I need to improve on.
“My da died 3 years ago so to win this award on his anniversary was not only an achievement it was a dream that I know he would be proud of.”
Workington Town RLFC have sent their congratulations to Ciaran following the win.
