ENGLAND test cricket captain Ben Stokes has sent a message to Cumbria Cricket as it departs for its tour of Sri Lanka.
The Cumbrian, formerly of Cockermouth Cricket Club, wished the outgoing tour party well and urged them to make the most of the 'fantastic opportunity' to experience cricket in Sri Lanka.
The tour takes place between Wednesday, March 27, and Monday, April 8.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for the Cumbria boys and girls to tour such a cricket-loving country," Stokes said.
"You will witness a great passion for cricket wherever you go in Sri Lanka.
"As a proud Cumbrian cricketer I’m really pleased I have been able to support this tour and wish everyone involved a successful and enjoyable trip."
