Lakeland Rowing Club crews won nine races at the Head of the Lune event.

The races were organised by Lancaster's John O'Gaunt Rowing Club.

The Hill, McCumiskey, and Lawson households were well-represented among the victors, taking first places across the boat and age categories.

Micah Wightman won the open singles title in the junior J17 class and, with boys' captain Sam Hill, also won the doubles.

Girls' captain Izzie Watson succeeded in the women's J18 singles and in the doubles with Jyoti Varey, who was making her debut for the Derwentwater-based club.

Izzie finished off her day with a third win in the mixed doubles with Liam McCumiskey.

Club chairman Julia McCumiskey, also Liam's mum, said: "It was cold and very wet, testing everyone's resilience to the limit, but our crews put in some extremely impressive performances."

In the senior classes, Julia, rowing with Graeme Mactavish, grabbed first places in the open masters E/G and mixed masters D/E classes.

Celia Whittam, Hannah Hill, Clare Lawson, and Julia came out victorious in the women's masters D/E class.

Sam's dad, Alex Hill, found success in the open masters A/C coxless quad category alongside Mrs Lawson's husband, Steve Lawson, James Waterfield, and Simon Bamforth.
